Want to be a prayer warrior? It takes practice! Just because you can’t find the words doesn’t mean you never will. Prayer is simply talking to God. And yes, it can be challenging when you do not have a personal relationship with God. At first it may feel as if you’re talking to a stranger; however, in time, this will change. It may even be hard to concentrate initially. Don’t worry, it’s not just you. If there is a will to pray, there is a method for Christians who struggle to pray.

Why Do We Struggle With How To Prayer?

Maybe we over spiritualize things. We believe it works best if we pray long and eloquently. We feel inadequate compared to spiritual giants like Billy Graham or Mother Teresa. We often see prayer as something we do during prayer gatherings or in our quiet time.

Prayer Tips:

Tip 1: Pray Simply

God hears even our simplest “SOS” prayers. “Lord, I love you” pleases God. “Lord, grant me strength for today.” He answers the simplest of requests.

Tip 2: Read the Bible & Pray Verses

Make prayer a practice. When we pray using the scriptures, it helps you remember scripture verses from reading the Bible, God’s everlasting love message to us.

Tip 3: Make Prayer an Integral Part of Your Day

How about an experiment? Start and conclude each day with prayer. As frequently as you can, say small prayers to God. Schedule prayer. Request God’s assistance with your tasks. Jesus teaches us the way to pray that leads to intimate, soul-satisfying communion with God in Matthew 6:9-13.

Tip 4: Pray Expectantly

Jesus asks us to trust God. Ask, seek, and knock—it will be given to you. Just think how many replies we miss because we don’t expect God to answer. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you how to pray, and expect him to answer.

Here are example of  3 short simple prayers:

  • Heavenly Father, I come to your Holy presence with humitily, I surrender my life to you, have compassion on me and bless me so I may trust and obey your will for my life. Renew my mind with your word, transform my life so I can be a blessing to my family and others.
  • I choose to be aware and obedient to Your truth and plan for my life. Help me set my heart on Your Kingdom and turn away from ungodliness. I will listen for Your voice, direction, and prompting, so I might be a light to those who are unaware.
  • Give me greater boldness to be Your advocate. Open doors beyond any I have ever imagined for the proclamation of the gospel that your name might be exalted.
  • Psalm 119:105 NKJV, Your word is a lamp to my fee and a light to path.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
